Secure Parking wins CRS Australia Award

Secure Parking has won a 2009 Queensland Employer Award for its commitment to providing employment opportunities to CRS Australia job seekers. The Gold Coast business was presented its award by CRS Australia's Deputy General Manager, Carl Princehorn and Queensland Divisional Manager, Ademola Bojuwoye, at a ceremony held in Brisbane on 30 November.

The CRS Australia Queensland Employer Awards recognise those employers who have shown exceptional commitment to providing training and employment opportunities for people with a disability, injury or health condition.

Secure Parking, the largest Australian owned car park operator in the country, employs 35 staff at their Gold Coast location.

Secure Parking began partnering with vocational rehabilitation services provider, CRS Australia, to provide work experience and employment opportunities for job seekers with disability. Over the past four years, the business has employed 12 job seekers with a range of physical and psychological disabilities. There are currently four CRS Australia job seekers working at the Gold Coast location.

Commercial Area Manager for Secure Parking, Gold Coast, David Asher said, 'I've found that most of my staff from CRS Australia are excellent! This is largely because many of them have been out of the workforce for a long period of time, so they're very keen to work and enjoy being here".

Margaret Carmody, General Manager, CRS Australia, said, 'By Secure Parking providing job opportunities for people with disability, many lives have been changed. These job seekers achieve independence, increased confidence and satisfaction, financial benefits and opportunities to learn.

‘Since 2005, Secure Parking has employed 12 CRS Australia job seekers, which clearly demonstrates their outstanding commitment to providing training and employment opportunities for people with disability.

CRS Australia, formerly known as the Commonwealth Rehabilitation Services, is part of the Australian Government Department of Human Services and provides vocational rehabilitation and assessment services to people with a disability, injury or health condition and provides recruitment, injury prevention and injury management services to employers.

CRS Australia believes a job is more than just employment: it provides hope, belonging, confidence and independence for individuals and valuable staff for employers. Each year CRS Australia helps over 50,000 job seekers towards meaningful employment.
